Bhopal : In cooperation with the Energy Development Corporation, the Tribal Welfare Department has installed solar power plants of 327 KV capacity in 22 educational institutions with a view to ensuring uninterrupted power supply for the students of the remote tribal areas.
These small solar plants have been installed on rooftops. Through these plants, uninterrupted power is supplied to the institutions for lighting, operating computers and heating water.
The education institutions where solar energy plants have been installed include Girls Education Complex Pushprajgarh in Anuppur district and Model Residential Schools at Dhar, Shahdol, Tawanagar in Hoshangabad district and Surat in Sidhi district. These plants have also been installed at Eklavya Model School, Sijhaura in Mandla district, Dhansaur in Seoni district, Sailana in Ratlam district, Kukshi in Dhar district, Barwani, Anuppur, Thandla in Jhabua district, and Dindori. Solar energy plants have also been installed at Boys and Girls Eklavya Model Schools at Tansar in Sidhi district.
The sports complexes of Tribal Welfare Department where solar energy plants have been set up are situated at Ratlam, Baihar in Balaghat district, Tamia in Chhindwara district, Alirajpur, Barwani and Shahpur in Betul district. These plants have also been installed at Girls Education Complexes at Chhindwara and Betul.
