Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath informed the Assembly on Wednesday that 290 major industries commenced functioning in the state between 2004 and 2018 under the jurisdiction of the State Industrial Development Corporation and translated into employment for 1,15,671 people.
“Nine of these units are inoperative. A total 2,642.173 hectares of government land was allotted to 441 large-scale commercial enterprises in the period. As no private land was allocated, there is no question of ‘returning’ plots to cultivators,” he said in a written reply to Mr Sanjay Shukla (ruling Congress).
Responding to another query, the Chief Minister averred that district employment offices organised 158 rozgar melas from May to August 2018 in 51 districts; approximately 2,86,300 youths were mobilised and 1,25,700 provided letters of intent.
