Finally 11 days after the scheduled date of withdrawal monsoon has withdrawn from Madhya Pradesh on Sunday. On Saturday monsoon had withdrawn from some parts of State but on Sunday monsoon has withdrawn from entire Madhya Pradesh. Scheduled date of withdrawal of monsoon from State is October 1.
According to the forecast of Met Department weather will now remain dry in entire State during next 24 hours. Owing to withdrawal of monsoon weather was dry in the entire State during last 24 hours. According to Meteorological Department State of Madhya Pradesh recorded normal rainfall during the 2008 monsoon season, as 20 per cent departure from normal is also considered normal.
During last 24 hours mercury was three to four degrees above normal in major Cities of the State. Temperature was four degrees above normal in Bhopal and Indore divisions and three degrees above normal in Jabalpur and Gwalior divisions. On Sunday afternoon mercury soared to 35.7 degrees in Bhopal, 35 degrees in Indore, 34.5 degrees in Jabalpur and mercury touched 36.2 degrees in Gwalior division during last 24 hours. Temperature was above normal in Sagar and Chambal divisions also. Maximum day temperature of 38 degrees was recorded in Rajgarh.
Weathermen stated that mercury is soaring in the State because wind pattern is northwesterly. Night temperature was normal in Jabalpur, one-degree above normal in Bhopal and two degrees above normal in Gwalior and Indore divisions.
Weathermen maintained that owing to withdrawal of monsoon there has been significant decline in humidity. Morning humidity in State capital was 62 per cent and during evening hours humidity was 45 per cent.
