More than 4000 educated rural youths got job offers from eleven private companies of India at a job fair organised recently at Shahdol. It is worth noticing that a series of Job Fairs in rural areas are going on across the state to provide job opportunities to the unemployed educated rural youths as mandated in State Government's Employment Oriented Policy.
Organised by the Madhya Pradesh Rural Livelihoods Project, noted companies like Ambuja Cement, Ambuja Cotton Ltd, Nahar Ludhiana, DCM Hissar, Vardhaman Ltd, L&T New Delhi, Team Lease India, Om and Fire Security, Suraksha Mumbai, SKS Chhatarpur, and Global Securities participated in the job fair and selected eligible candidates from among 20,000 rural youths.
The outcome of the job fair has been a substantial data base of educated rural youths aspiring jobs. This data base could be utilised by other companies.
Before, organising the job fair, an intensive campaign was launched in the district inviting youths to participate and find suitable placements. The rural youths attending job fair informed that in metros big companies visit educational institutions for campus selection but till now no such initiative was taken for the youths living in rural areas.
They described it a concrete initiative. Youths even from Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh also participated when they came to know about the job fair.
Ambuja Cotton selected 230 youths, Nahar Ludhiyana 350, DCM Hissar 150, Vardhaman 106, L&T New Delhi 100, Ambuja Cement 130, Team Lease India 2109, Om and Fire Security 400, Suraksha, Mumbai 600, SKS Chhatarpur 402 and Global Security 196 youths. Over 20 registrations have been reported.
The data base of aspiring candidates would be furnished to the interested companies. After selection process, they would be given on-the-job training by the companies.
