SIMI chief spills beans

The extent to which the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) can go is being exposed day by day. In the Malwa and Nimar regions of Madhya Pradesh too the organisation had prepared its solid base. It has come to light that SIMI whose head Safdar Nagori is in custody these days, had its presence in Mahakaushal region besides in the Vindhya region. Prior to imposition of ban, Safdar use to take meetings of the Samaj and even at that time his intentions were not good. His all preparations aimed at making terrorist attacks successful. This could be termed as failure of the intelligence system. As per one report, when Nagori was being taken to Rewa jail, the jail administration was under great strain. This could be attributed to the fact that the SIMI man has good network in Vindhya and Mahakoshal regions. Leaving aside what happened prior to ban on SIMI, at least Nagori's each movement should have been closely followed. Had the intelligence been serious on this point and the police remained alert, Safdar would not have got opportunity to build platform for his nefarious activities. The beans spilled during intense interrogation of Nagori are shocking as also surprising. All the activists of the banned organisation should be located and their activities should be closely watched. There is need to go to the roots of this organisation. According to police, Nagori and his men had organised SIMI training camp in Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, and Halol (Gujarat) and gave inflammatory speeches.
