Bhopal, Aug 24: A female leopard met a tragic death after she was found trapped in a rope in Van Vihar National Park on late Saturday night.

In two different enclosures a pair of leopards were kept in their housing place. The female leopard was found dead by her keeper in the morning during his routine visit, said Van Vihar Park Officials.

The female leopard was brought from Sidhi Forest Division atv the age of one year and eleven months and was named Sidhi.

A team of doctors who performed postmortem on her and found that she died due to suffocation by entangling in rope wire while trying to cross her enclosure during the night hours.

The Forest Department has constituted a committee to ascertain the real cause of the death of healthy female leopard. The report will be submitted by August 30, an official swaid.

According the sources this is an accident death due to the negligence of Van Vihar staff. The enclosures of big cats need time to time repair works which is neglected by the Van Vihar authorities.
