How would Prachand face challenges?

Maoist leader Pushp Kamal Dahal alias Prachand has become the new Prime Minister of Nepal. After election of President and Vice President and forming of the government there was hurdle in electing Prime Minister, but now it has solved. Democratic Nepal has elected its first Prime Minister after finishing kingship. Prachand would be the 50th Prime Minister till date. In the election of special constituent assembly, Prachand secured support of 464 out of 577 members whereas his rival former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress candidate, Sher Bahadur Deuba could secure only 113 votes. Madhesi community people got angry after Prachand's election. The cause of their anger is Prachand's anti-Madhes image. Common Madhesis termed Prachand victory as of anti-Indian origin people. According to Madhesi people, having majority in 22 districts, problems for them would now increase. It may be noted that after the general election Prachand had emerged as the most powerful as his party proved itself as the single largest party and the way in which he raised questions on Indo-Nepal ties. It reflected the leader's anti-Indian stance. On the other hand the Madhesi organisations, taking the issue of independent Madhes, had announced their struggle. Prachand since beginning has been influenced towards China. Now, it is possible that Prachand would like to define Nepal's relation with India and other countries in a new way. Nepali Congress has clarified that it would not participate in the government. There is no doubt that a new ideology and breeze of democracy is blowing in Nepal. Earlier, the Madhesis had been target of Maoist violence. Now, it remains to be seen as to how the new Prime Minister, Prachand meets with challenges. Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, by inviting Prachand to India, has exhibited his attitude. Prachand would have to prove that he is the real well-wisher of Nepali public and desires to take all into confidence. This is possible only when he would maintain sweet relations with India and works in country's interest.
