Maintain dignity of the House: Probe currency issue for conclusion

Democracy has its own honour and prestige. By showing the bundle of Rs 1,000 notes, during the special session of parliament, some members have only brought the image of the august house down in the eyes of the world, for the proceedings were keenly watched over television sets. Of the three BJP members who entered the parliament with bundle of notes, two-Ashok Argal and Faggan Singh Kulaste--belong to Madhya Pradesh. In fact both these leaders do not carry a clean image. Kulaste's name figures in MPLAD whereas Argal's reputation is also not that good. Both these leaders had accused the SP leader, Amar Singh and Revti Raman Singh of supplying them with notes for voting in favour of UPA during the no trust motion. Only an investigation will bring forth the truth and the real conspirators. However, the question arises if the honourable MPs should behave in this manner in the House. Some months back, during the Rajya Sabha elections also, SP MLA, Kishore Samrite had reached the police station with bundle of notes accusing a candidate for the Rajya Sabha election, Vivek Tankha for voting in his favour. A probe in this case is also pending. Being the people's representatives the members' should keep their image clean. Today's electorate is wise and will teach the erring MPs lessons at the time of elections. Such matters are very serious and need proper resolutions lest the institution of democracy be defamed.
