Bhopal, July 5:
The charismatic young leader of the Congress party, Rahul Gandhi, today mingled himself with the State party office-bearers and district presidents here on Saturday. He met DCC presidents and discussed with them the party problems. He said if all the party workers and leaders work at least 50 per cent, the Congress party will win the next election.
The young Congress general secretary first met the DCC presidents and working committee members. Among others present in the meeting include State minister for information and communication, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Pradesh Congress Committee president Suresh Pachauri, State in charge Narayan Sami, president of state election managing committee Ajay Singh, Jatin Prasad, leader of Opposition in the State assembly Jamuna Devi, former PCC president Subhash Yadav.
Rahul Gandhi asked for feedback from district presidents and asked about their election strategy. The DCC presidents expressed their views and said their suggestion on distribution of tickets should be taken into consideration. The ticket should be distributed according to the situation in each assembly constituency.
After the discussion with the party leaders Rahul said that the political environment in the State is not in favour of the ruling party and this will definitely benefit the Congress. `I have toured several parts of Madhya Pradesh and spent nights in villages. The people are not happy with the present government. Even if the party workers work for at least 50 per cent there is no reason why the Congress should not come into power.'
Rahul said that Congress will highlight corruption and failure to fulfil the poll promises by the ruling party in the next election. He said that the candidates for the next election will be declared in advance. With new delimitation in place, the candidates would have to spend more time at their respective constituencies.
Rahul also held closed door meetings with Youth Congress and NSUI presidents. He called the office-bearers of the Women Congress and Sewa Dal together.
