In an important decision, the state cabinet here on Thursday, sanctioned a total of 6586 posts of doctors and staff for district hospitals in the state. In the cabinet meeting chaired by state, chief secretary, Rakesh Sahni and other senior bureaucrates, decisions were also taken to improve the condition of 48 district hospitals and set up new district hospitals at Alirajpur and Baidhan. Similarly, 30 new sub health centres and one primary health centre would be established in the state.
To facilitate the upgradation and rationalization of the district hospitals 928 posts of specialist doctors and class one medical officers, 4763 posts of para medical and clerical cadre and 895 contract posts of staff would be created.
In district hospitals the number of beds would be increased and additional staff would be provided. Hundred beds would be provided each in the district hospitals of Baidhan, Barwani, Khargone, Shajapur, Rajgarh, Seoni, Shahdol, Hoshanabad and Indore respectively.
The cabinet sanctioned 30 sub health centres. A primary health centre was sanctioned for Bandipur pilgrimage centre in Damoh district. As per the decisions taken, new primary health centres would be set up at Khannaudhi in Shahadol district. The civil hospitals at Alirajpur and Baidhan would be upgraded to district hospitals with hindered beds each.
