Trader self-immolates after beating by bandh supporters

Bhopal, July 3: A trader immolated himself in front of his cloth shop after the bandh supporters assaulted him following an altercation over closure of the shop on the Amarnath issue this morning at Rampur town in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh's Satna district.

Police said Hiralal Soni (28) who suffered 90 per cent burns had been admitted to the district hospital here. His condition was serious.

Bajrang Dal workers, who were enforcing bandh at Rampur, 25 km from here, had beaten up Hiralal on the issue of the shop's closure.

Later he doused himself with kerosene and set himself ablaze. No arrest had been made till this afternoon, police said.
