Bhopal, July 3: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials arrested Bhopal Railway Station Manager SR Meena and Assitant Yard Master Kamlesh Chandra Uniyal for accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 from a sanitary contractor.

CBI sources said the station manager and his aide threatened the sanitation contractor to cancel his contract pointing out minor mistakes and demanded kick-back for continuing the work.

On a tip-off, CBI raided the station manager's office after the contractor Manish handed over the money to the Assistant Yard Master at the instance of Meena.

The CBI team also conducted a raid at the residences of Meena and Uniyal last evening after arresting them. Both would be presented in the court today.

Complaints of corruption and malpractices were also received against Meena when he was posted at Jabalpur, the sources said.

West Central Railway Mazdoor Sangh hands over memorandum to GM

Bhopal, July 3: With a view to draw attention of General Manager, West Central Railway , Jabalpur the WCRMS handed over memorandum on following items.

Item No. 1 - The staff of Bhopal division is suffering due to the shortage of staff. Many new assets were started without creation of staff. Lot of proposals of creation of posts are pending at HQ level e.g. commercial staff, ticket checking, ECRCs, Dy SS commercial, shunting masters in optg dept. are causing great concern.

Item No. 2 - Creation of posts of paramedical staff- Divisional Hospital, Bhopal & Sub-Divisional Hospital, ET one facing lot of problem due to the vacancies of Radiographer, laboratory staff, physiotherapists etc.

The proposal of creation of posts and posting of substitutes on vacant posts as per railway board's provision one send to Hqrs for approval it is therefore urged to provide sanction at the earliest.

Item No. 3 - The staff of TRS- Shed Itarsi is continuously agitating due to the nomination of fifteen additional locos for maintenance without any addition in staff. There was already shortage of staff as per yardstick and with this additional burden the staff will suffer a lot. The proposal of creation of posts is pending at HQ level since last one & half year.

Item No. 4- The roads of colonies of Bhopal are at their worst now & staff, families of railwaymen are facing accidents due to it. Mainly road from railway station Bhopal to coach repair workshop & Divisional Hospital is in horrible condition.

WCRMS urges to take some urgent and necessary action for this problem.

Item No. 5- Decentralization of posts- The grades of 6500-11500 are in divisional control in almost all the categories where in some departments the grades of 4000-6000, 4500-7000, 5000-8000, 5500-9000 & 6500-10500 are still in HQ control such as Drawing & design cadre in electric dept., Health cadre, Lab-cadre, Radiographer in medical dept.

WCRMS urges to decentralise above staff as in office cadres of WCR.

In this connection WCRMS urges to take all necessary steps to solve the problems of division.
