Workshop on music for kids at Allauddin Academy

Bhopal, May 28: The Allauddin Khan Music and Arts Academy is conducting summer classes on different subjects for the children. At present classes on music and dances are going on. In these classes the students are learning vocal and instrumental music like Tabla and Kathak dance. Children who have some knowledge about music and dance are given admission.

Famous Tabla player Suresh Talwalkar is giving tips on Tabla playing. Likewise renowned Kathak dancer Vidya Deshpande is teaching Kathak to children. After practice, the children perform what they have learnt. In this connection Bhopal Today Team talked to some Gurus and Shishyas to know more about the classes.

What they say

Suresh Talwalkar said that he was teaching children here how to play Tabla. He was all praise for the students and said they are very hard working, talented and confident. 'I feel very happy to teach them. I had come last year and given training to these students', he added.

Arun Patnikar is the director of Allauddin Khan Music and Arts Academy. According to him the Academy has been organising several such workshops at different parts of the state. In these camps training has been imparted in instrumental, vocal music and drama. The registration fee for the workshop is Rs 500 and charge for admission form is Rs. 20. This workshop is being organised every year, he said. 'Our main aim is to bring about the hidden talent in children and they should use their spare time for something good', he added.

Krishna Pal Thakur a student of 10th year says he plays Tabla and the Guruji gives some interesting tips during the workshop. The Guruji gives minute details about playing of Tabla and if we make any mistake, he teaches us how to rectify it.

Harshit Raj is Class VI student. He says he has just started learning and have a lot to learn about Tabla playing. If I learn the basic properly, it will help me in future. He also praised his Guruji. In case of doubt, the Guruji himself plays on Table to guide us', he said.
