Bhopal, May 28:
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Wednesday called for ensuring speedy implementation of the Centre's loan waiver scheme to steer clear of difficulties being faced after the scheme's announcement.
At a high-level meeting here to review preparations for this year's kharif crop, he expressed concern over cooperative banks' loan recovery being affected on account of the delay in implementation and the consequent impact on loan disbursal for kharif crops, official sources said.
''The Centre should soon issue the scheme's package description besides providing the loan waiver amounts in cash to co-operative banks. This should have been done at least a month back,'' the Bharatiya Janata Party leader said.
The meeting was informed that the kharif target was 105.40 lakh hectares, 7.20 lakh quintals of seeds would be distributed besides Rs 3,300 crore worth of loans as compared to last year's figure of Rs 2,246 cr.
