Mandate for a stable Govt: Parties cannot fool voters

The voters in Karnataka by electing 110 members belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party have proved that they are in favour of a stable government for the State. BJP has registered its win on 110 seats out of 224 seats, it has gained around 30 seats whereas Congress has emerged as the second largest party. It has secured 80 seats and got benefit of 15 seats. JDS got 28 seats and others won 6 seats. SP, BSP and JDU could not open their accounts. These results of Karnataka reveal that public has rejected the defectors and power greedy leaders. If the Muslim community did not cast their votes in favour of SP then BSP's dalit card also proved ineffective there. The public has become sick of coalition government politics and defecting tendency of leaders. The Congress could not reap benefit of this opportunity. It could have been an alternative in Karnataka politics, but why it failed, is a matter of introspection. Top brass of Congress party could not perform well because at groundlevel their hold was not very strong. Senior leaders like S Bangarappa and his two sons had to taste defeat. It seems that public has given them lesson to do more work. It is said the Congress votes were split due to the policy of JD(S). JD(S), SP, BSP and JD(U) like parties also could not get benefit of their vote bank but on the contrary at several places their candidates split votes. Finally, the BJP got the benefit. It is for the first time when the BJP has come out this victorious in any southern state. It is preparing to form its government. Communalism and secularism like issues had no meaning in this election and the public in hope of stable government gave its mandate to BJP. It is a big lesson for Congress and the other parties. Karnataka election is being seen as an indicator for the forthcoming elections. Now, Congress would have to ponder deeply and learn lessons for being behind the BJP.
