In a thriller, St Michael Cricket Academy team beat Jyotiraditya Scindia Eleven by 21 runs and captured the trophy of Makhanlal Chaturvedi T20 cricket tournament and prize of Rs 21000. The players of St Michael's kept their cool and concentration amidst the din of firecrackers and fireworks and presence of cheerleaders at the packed Bab-e-Ali Stadium here today. Those who graced the prize distribution function included MP State Tourism Development Corporation chairman Dhruv Narayan Singh, Mayor Sunil Sood and deputy chairman of MP Sports Council Om Yadav. The special guests praised competition's secretary Shamsul Hasan, Asif Zaki, Junaid Qidwai, Anwar Usmani, Abid Shaikh and Amjad Anjum for successful conduct of the tournament. Secretary of Bhopal Cricket Association Dr Shafqat Mohammad Khan was honoured with shawl and coconut and a memento.
After winning toss, St Michael's captain Parvez Ullah elected to bat and set a target of 146 runs before Jyotiraditya Eleven with the help of 24 in 18 balls by Samir Qureshi, 45 not out in just 26 balls by Zubair Raza and 18 in 11 balls by Muqtadir Ullah. Moneesh Chaturvedi took three wickets for 16 runs in his quota of four overs while Sonu Batham, Hashir, Almaz and Usman Ali shared one wicket each.
In reply, Jyotiraditya Eleven could make only 126 runs in 19 overs and lost the match by 21 runs. Shashank scored 40 runs in 34 balls but none else could face the fury of St Michael's bowlers. Subur Beg scalped three wickets for 31 runs followed by Muqtadir Ali (2 for 25) while Parvez Ullah, Jainn, Shan-e-Alam and Samir Quraishi scalped one wicket each.
