Bhopal, May 26: The Allama Iqbal Literary Section of Madhya Pradesh Sahitya Academy has conducted a week-long workshop to learn by heart and produce the stanzas of famous Urdu poets. The workshop was held at Mulla Ramuji Cultural Bhavan. On the final day of the workshop, the students sung the stanzas in a group in front of the guests.

The workshop has been organising since May 17 where the children were taught how to speak the language, about culture and traditions of the country, etc. 57 students from different colleges and schools participated.

The children were also taught how to use Urdu Dictionary. After the conclusion of the workshop, certificate will be given to all those who attended. The Bhopal Today Team Reporter met some participants to know about their experience in the workshop.

Kahkashan is a student. 'The last day of the workshop was most interesting. So far we have been learning. The last day was to perform what we have learnt. Here I could learn several new words in Urdu. The stanzas in Urdu I learnt here will not be forgotten', she said.

Faizan said he learnt several things here, particularly new Urdu words. I am not well versed with Urdu language. Now I have learnt how to learn stanzas in Urdu. I am interested in poems and I will continue my hobby of reading poems. In a way it is our heritage which we are losing, he added.

Irfa is interested in poems and poets. Learning and reading of poems is an interesting experience. It is an art to read and write poem. To become an expert in this art, knowledge of Urdu is a must. I learnt something new from this workshop. I want to become an Urdu Shayar, she said.

Arshi thinks that through Urdu poetry we can attract people towards us. Through the poems we can express our ideas before others in a different way.

Sufia tells that during the last few days, lot of things we learnt from the workshop. We did not know meaning of several words of Urdu. But that has been cleared, she said.
