Action plan to remove encroachments at R-sites

Bhopal, May 24: Narmada Valley Development Authority has taken up the complaints of encroachments at rehabilitation sites seriously and derived an action plan against encroachers. The action plan recently communicated to the collectors of the districts concerned has made district administration nodal agency to deal with the matter.

According to the plan the collector would file cases against encroachers under the provision of section 248 of Land Revenue Code 1953. They have been authorised to remove encroachments from rehabilitation sites where ever necessary and their decision would be the final. The NVDA has also directed the rehabilitation officers to take necessary action for including land of rehabilitation sites in the revenue record of the district as the land of the govt. of MP Namrada Valley Development department.

Each rehabilitation sites would be in the charge of a sub engineer to keep eye on encroachments. It will be responsibility of sub engineer to report the cases of encroachments to the rehabilitation officer and tehsildar. He would also responsible for demarcation of rehabilitation site and would keep and maintain the land records. The NVDA has asked the panchayat and village level rehabilitation committees to give all co-operation to the district administration in keeping rehabilitation sites encroachment free. It may be mentioned here that 88 rehabilitation sites under Sardar Sarovar, 34 sites under Indira Sagar and 10 sites under Omkareshwar project had been developed to resettle oustees. There is a provision to provide residential plot free of cost to the displaced family. Families do not want to take plot at rehabilitation sites may opt to take cash money in lieu of plot. Many families had opted to take cash amount.
