The India-US civil nuclear deal remains stalled due to unrelenting opposition from the Indian coalition government's leftist supporters, but the US is still hopeful and would like to see it move forward.
 
Lebanese parliament to elect new president Sunday  

Beirut, May 23:
Lebanon's parliament speaker Nabih Berri announced Thursday that the session to elect army commander Michel Suleiman as the next president would be held Sunday. Berri's office said in a statement that the session would convene at 5 pm (1400 GMT).
