Gross misuse of public money

Of late, Government Departments, PSUs and other Government-associated organisations, in their large size colour advertisements, give the photographs of UPA Chairperson, Prime Minister and even Ministers' photographs on the top. This is wrong and gross misuse of public money since none of these dignitaries are direct contributors to the event/achievement proposed to be highlighted through ads.

But, here is a welcome and praiseworthy departure from such sycophancy. Power Grid Corporation, under the Union Power Ministry proposed to issue an ad giving the photograph of Jairam Ramesh, MOS for Power. When the file was put up to him for approval, he ordered immediate removal of his photograph saying 'I have not contributed anything to claim credit for this'.

Will Mrs Sonia Gandhi, Dr. Manmohan Singh and Ministers in GoI commend such a step and issue immediate instructions that their photographs must not be published without their specific and express approval. Any defiance must be dealt with sternly. We must not forget that people are watching such gross misuse of public money and will show their anger at the time of polls.
