SRK-Sourav at loggerheads-sources

Agencies

Kolkata, May 21: The latest controversy to plague the Indian Premier League (IPL) this season is the alleged spat between the Kolkata Knight Riders’ owner Shah Rukh Khan and the team’s captain Sourav Ganguly after the team’s dismal show in the recent matches. It has been learnt that the two have rifted apart due to differences of opinion on a plethora of issues.

Reacting to the allegations, Ganguly told reporters that it was not true and he had nothing more to say.

The most important issue between the two was probably Ganguly’s reluctance to talk to West Bengal’s Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya about the abolition of entertainment tax levied on the team on Shah Rukh’s behalf. It was also told that there was a difference of opinion at the time of the players’ auction with Ganguly wanting to have Adam Gilchrist in his team while the slot went to Brendon McCullum due to SRK’s interest.

Sources also revealed that Ganguly was not preferred to have the biggest say in the team and Shah Rukh Khan wanted team coach John Buchannan to have the final say in the team’s matters.
