Uncertainty
continues in the process of government formation in Nepal.
Nepali Maoists Communist Party is trying its best to see end
of all hurdles for forming the government. After the refusal
of Nepali Congress and CPNUML's cooperation in forming government
the Maoist Communist Party indicated to form government with
its arch rival Madheshi Party. Party has taken decision with
consent of all its members. Even after the helplessness of
coalition with its arch rival Madheshi Party the Maoists would
continue to lean towards China, it should not be taken for
granted that they would come closer to India. Senior Maoist
leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai says that both the parties have
received clear mandate in constituent assembly. The other
parties had to face defeat. In this way to form a new government
the coalition of Maoists and Madheshi party is natural. But
the government formed on the basis of improper coalition would
not be able to protect the interests of the country and its
public. Moreover, the country had been a Hindu nation and
will it be run according to democratic system as in India.
If we see towards communist countries then it becomes clear
that government is elected there according to democratic system
but in practical dictatorship of the party dominates there.
The same danger is at the doorsteps of Nepal. There is fear
of changing the democracy into dictatorship. Maoists have
leanings towards China, whereas Madheshis believe in being
closer to India. Maoists wish new treaty in place of old treaties
with India. Whereas India has soft corner towards Nepal and
aims to help its people and the government. It is clear that
the way of both the parties and ideology is different. According
to Bhattarai, if the Indian economy is like a sea then Nepal's
economy is like a well. He says that he would try to further
strengthen relations with India for economic development of
Nepal. However, Nepal is passing through a difficult phase
at present. Maoists should realise that India is their good
and brotherly friend in need. India should keep a beady eye
on whatever is happening or is about to happen in Nepal.
