Music sooths mind, increases IQ

Bhopal Today Team

Bhopal, May 20: There is nothing better than music to help you get mental peace. This also helps to develop and sooth your mind. It is said that if a child is interested in music, it will help his mental development.

The children who attend the music camp at Jawahar Bal Bhavan wanted to learn music instruments - Tabla, Harmonium and synthesizer etc. 'The vacation is very boring. Our parents are too busy to take us for an outing', say the children. The summer camps are the only option to utilise the time usefully. The camps are so interesting for them. They also learn something they like at the camp. This also helps in their personality development. Bhopal Today Team met some music teachers and students to know more about their activities.

Nirmala Upadhyaya has been with the institute since 1991. Earlier there were not much students but their number has been increasing gradually. It has become impossible to control them single-handedly.

Utkarsh Singh is a student of Central School, Bairagarh. 'This year I could not go anywhere out of Bhopal. Hence I joined the music classes at the camp. I learnt how to handle Tabla and synthesizer. But I liked the synthesizer more than Tabla. So far I have composed 8 songs', he said happily.

Roopesh Sharma is regular in attending the summer camps and joined the music class. 'So far I have learnt handling of several musical instruments like Harmonium, synthesizer, Tabla, Mouth Organ. I wanted to learn how to handle all music instruments', he said.

Vaishnavi Hurkar is learning dance and music during this vacation. I wanted to become an engineer but would keep in touch with music and dance also. Therefore, I have decided to join such camps on vacations, she added.
