School where kids imbibe culture

Bhopal Today Team

Bhopal, May 20: It is a commendable effort to make children aware of their culture, to improve their knowledge and development of personality in the changed scenario. The only institution in the city, Children's Welfare and Child Literature Research Centre is up to the mark in its efforts. Mahesh Saxena is the 'Guru' here whose efforts to inculcate Indian Culture among the children and improve their personality should be appreciated. Culture is our life without which there is no difference between human beings and animals. Adopting the best of Western culture is good. But to ape them in every walk of life is dangerous to the society.

In this era of globalisation the whole world has changed. Our country is no exception in this regard. The youth and children are adopting or aping fast the western culture. There was a time when the real India could be seen in the rural areas. Since we have adopted the Western styles, our children are not aware of Indian culture. The changes may be everywhere, but there are some institutions, which are always untiringly safeguarding our culture and traditions. The Children Welfare and Child Literature Research Institute situated at North TT Nagar is one such institute. In this regard Bhopal Today Team talked to the 'Guru' and the children learning different activities there.

Vishwa Mohan Tiwari, retired Air Vice Marshal and Director, Bal Vikas Bharti, Noida said that when visited the Centre, he thought he should have come earlier. I am running Bal Vikas Bharti with 22 branches all over the country. Our aim is to inculcate best culture among the children and make them self confident. Today I told them about Mahabharat and informed about science, geography and other subjects.

Mahesh Saxena is Secretary & Director, Children's Welfare and Child Literature Research Centre. He is also working as assistant secretary to Hindi Bhavan. He said 'It was my dream to open an institute where I can teach children good culture. My dream became a reality when I opened this Children's Welfare and Child Literature Research Centre at my residence. Developing interest towards our own culture, develop their personality, to make them good human beings, is the main aim of my institute. I have so far written 14 books for children. These books will inspire the students to take interest in our culture. Here we are giving training in music, dance, sports, painting etc.

My family members are with me in my endeavour. We don't collect fees from students. Our services are free of cost', he concluded.

Lata Gunani, student of Class VII said I am very happy at this centre. Here we are getting training in music, dance, story telling, etc. Today I learnt tips on music.

Neetu Pal, who studies in Class X, seemed to be short of words for praising the centre. We are learning a lot of things here. I am getting training in dance these days, she said.

Harsh Saxena is Class I student and grandson of the 'Guru'. He is learning music and painting with other children.
