Mini bus turns turtle, half a dozen injured

Bhopal, May 20: A mini bus plying towards Subhash Nagar from Habibganj was turned turtle near Government Press when its driver lost control over the steering. About half a dozen passengers received serious injuries. One of the injured is reported to be serious.

According to police, City Service Mini Bus MP-04/H-9054 was going towards Subhash Nagar from Habibganj. The driver of the bus lost control over steering as the bus was in great speed and it turned turtle near Government Press.

Half a dozen passengers including Akhtar Khan, Manahar Lal, Babli Khan, Shivji Thakur and Maqsood Alam received injuries.

Akhtar was going somewhere on foot. When the mini bus turned turtle, he came into clutch and received serious injuries. He has been admitted in Hamidia hospital. The driver fled from the scene leaving the ill-fated bus. Police have registered a case against the driver and seized the mini bus.

3 killed in bus-dumper collision

Three persons were killed and 22 others injured when a mini-bus collided with a dumper near Lateri, 90 Km from Vidisha, last night, police said. All victims belonged to neighbouring Guna district. The injured were provided treatment at Lateri hospital, police said.

The deceased were identified as Kartik (4), Munnalal (30) and Bhagwan Singh (50).

Wife's nose chopped off

A youth chopped off his wife's nose suspecting her fidelity. The incident took place at Uttampura locality of Morena yesterday when Bhagwan Das attacked his 20-year-old wife Suman with a knife while she was asleep. His mother who intervened was also assaulted and injured.

Police said Suman and her mother-in-law were undergoing treatment at the district hospital. Bhagwan Das is absconding.

Youth shot in group clash

A youth was shot dead and five others, including a woman, injured in a clash between two groups over a trivial issue at Bareta village of Morena district yesterday. The dispute between two neighbours arose over disposal of domestic waste. Mahesh Rathore (30) was shot dead in the clash.

Later about 100 people staged a road blockade after placing the body in front of the collectorate demanding arrest of the guilty and compensation to the next of kin of the dead. Police used mild force to disperse the crowd.

Man kills wife

A man killed his wife and later attempted suicide following domestic dispute in Narsinghpur district's Singpur village today, police said.

Gayatri Bai (28) was killed on the spot when Chhotelal Choudhary hit her with a rod. Later, he also consumed some poisonous substance and was admitted to the district hospital in serious condition.

Doctor looted

Three unidentified people threw chilli powder into the eyes of a doctor and looted his two wheeler and other belongings near Mandsaur district's Nalikheda area, police said today.

Bakaguda village-resident Omprakash was on his way to Semali from his village when miscreants stopped him and threw chilli powder into his eyes and looted his motorcycle, Rs 4,000 in cash and two cellular phones worth Rs 14,000 yesterday.

Man with brown sugar held

A drug peddler was arrested and one kg brown sugar worth Rs 2 crore in international market was seized from him here, police said today.

Superintendent of Police Jaideep Prasad told reporters that a crime branch team raided drug dealer Akram in Nishatpura area here last night. Akram, who was released from the Central Jail three days ago, received drugs from Rajasthan's Kota district and later, he distributed it to petty dealers.

Prasad said that Akram got into this illicit business as a legacy as his entire family was involved in this crime. His two brothers and a sister-in-law had already been convicted under Narcotic Drugs Psychotropic Substances Act. ''Cash reward of Rs 500 per head will be given to every member of the police team along with citation to team in charge Nimisha Pande,'' Prasad added.

8 sacks of country-made liquor seized

A man was arrested on the charge of doing the business of illegal alcohol and eight sacks containing country-made liquor were seized here today, police said.

Superintendent of Police Jaideep Prasad told reporters here today that a car was stopped and 400 bottles of country-made liquor worth Rs 14,000 were seized in a search drive at Piplani area last night. Sonu Chaukse (25) was arrested and the vehicle was seized, he added.

Man burns wife alive

A man, on a trivial issue, tried to burn his wife alive after sprinkling kerosene on her in Gunga police station area. The seriously injured woman has been admitted in hospital.

According to police, Harinarayan, resident of Jaitpura village is a farmer. A religious function was organised at his brother's residence in village Kalara. Harinarayan's wife Vaijayanti Bai (35) reached alone in the programme before Harinarayan. He could not bear her arrival there. At late night when they were returning from Kalara village on the way they had argument with each other.

Harinarayan became angry such an extent that he tried to burn his wife after pouring kerosene on her body.

Vaijayanti shouted for help and the neighbours reached at their residence and extinguished fire and rescued her.

His parents living in Badarkhan village when received information about the incident took her with them and admitted in hospital. Police have registered a case against the accused Harinarayan. The accused is at large.
