Hyderabad, May 18:
Batting first after Gilchrist won the toss, Mumbai Indian set a target of 179 for Deccan Chargers to win. For Mumbai Abhishek Nayar with 38 runs was the highest scorer. Sanath Jayasuriya (36) who got off to a flying start was caught by RP Singh as he miscued a Venugopal delivery.
Mumbai got off to a solid start when Jayasuriya and Tendulkar looked dangerous. RP Singh was pick of the Hyderabadi bowlers scalping three crucial wickets giving away 35 runs in 24 deliveries he bowled. A win here for Mumbai would definitely put the visitors as strong contender of qualifying to the semi-final.
Hyderabad would fancy their star batsman Adam Gilchrist and Rohit Sharma fire at the top to give the home team something to cheer about. Hyderabad who are at the bottom of table with Royal Challengers have almost no chance of making to the semi-finals.
Earlier, Deccan Chargers skipper Adam Gilchrist won the toss and invited Mumbai Indians to bat first in their Indian Premier League match here on Sunday.
Mumbai Indians have replaced an unfit Shaun Pollock with Sri Lankan paceman Dilhara Fernando while Pinal Shah takes place of Rajesh Pawar.
The Hyderabad team has brought in Haladhar Das, Nuwan Zoysa and Chamara Silva in place of Herschelle Gibbs, Scott Styris and Sarvesh Kumar.
Adam Gilchrist blasted a 42-ball hundred the last time these two teams met in Mumbai, but it is the Mumbai Indians, with five wins on the trot, who start the game against a struggling Deccan Chargers as favourites. Deccan have made three changes from the side that lost narrowly to Delhi Daredevils, and Gilchrist decided to field as the side look to win their first match at home.
Two high-profile South Africans miss out on this game, and have been replaced by Sri Lankans. Deccan have left out Herschelle Gibbs, handing Chamara Silva his first game, while an unfit Shaun Pollock, who has been a key cog in Mumbai's winning streak, makes way for Dilhara Fernando. Mumbai, who haven't used a spinner in their last two games, also brought in wicketkeeper-batsman Pinal Shah for left-arm spinner Rajesh Pawar. The match is also the last in the tournament for Dwayne Bravo; the West Indies allrounder will fly out to join the national squad for the Australia Tests.
