Rajasthan rout Bangalore by 65 runs

Agencies

Jaipur, May 17: Probably losing is a bad habit and at this moment it is quite clear that Dravid’s men need a miracle to shred that habit. After a poor display in the field it was the turn of high profile batsmen to disappoint the fans and team owner who is looking too hard for accountability now days. Chasing a total of 197 Bangalore looked down the barrel with their score card reading 83/8 in 15 odd overs.

If only spot was another business Vijay Mallya’s team would have met different result but sadly all the money and expertise are useless. The star studded batting line up comprising Kallis, Misbah, Virat and Dravid failed to offer any challenge as Rajasthan looked all set for registering yet another victory in Jaipur.

Put into bat by Rahul Dravid, Shane Warne team ensured that Royal Challengers have another run mountain( 197/1) to climb. With Rahul Dravid under intense pressure after lying at bottom of the table his team seemed to have a crumbled under pressure. Challengers struggled to take catches which came and the overall bowling and fielding seemed to be better than a ‘gully-mohalla’ team.

Greame Smith and Swapnil Asnodkar ensured that Rajasthan were off to a flying start. Challenegrs struggled to gain any momentum as the both the openers scored fifty each. Asnodkar was finally out done by Anil Kumble as Misbah completed the only catch of Rajasthan innings. Since then Royal fielders refused to take any catch as the coach watched hopelessly from the ‘hide out’ sorry dig out.

Earlier, Rahul Dravid called correctly at the toss at the Sawai Mansingh stadium in Jaipur and decided to field first as he thought that chasing would be a good option as the Bangalore team would have the exact picture of how to go about attempting to overhaul the target set by the Rajasthan Royals.

The security was tight owing to the blasts in the Pink City. Rahul Dravid would be looking forward to beat the Rajasthan Royals in an attempt to salvage some pride. He has also been in the limelight due to the feud with franchisee owner and liquor baron Vijay Mallya.

Warne said he doesn`t mind batting first because it`s nearly 50 degrees. He was looking forward to the challenge because Rajasthan normally field first.

Dale Steyn isn`t fit today and will not be playing for Bangalore. He`s sitting in the cool confines of the television studio while his team-mates sweat it out. The teams are being kept top secret for some reason.

Rajasthan have brought back Swapnil Asnodkar, the dashing opening batsman, for Niraj Patil. Sohail Tanvir also returns for Dimitri Mascarenhas who has returned to Hampshire.

Bangalore have left out Mark Boucher, Dale Steyn and Vinay Kumar, and replaced them with Jacques Kallis, Devraj Patil and Bangladesh left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak, who is playing his first match of the tournament.
