This refers to the numerous reports regarding the prevalence of graft in the administration that have appeared in the media particularly those regarding the involvement of politicians and senior bureaucrats.
The latest report says that 3 Cabinet Ministers of the Madhya Pradesh Government have been issued notices by the Income Tax Department for their failure to file mandatory income tax returns for the last 3-4 years even though their incomes came within the ambit income tax dues. Another report relates to the Lokayukt recommendation to the state government to cancel allotment of plots to RSS body as the plots were given away without verifying the eligibility of the organization in question.
Corruption has permeated all wings of the governance -Executive, Legislative and Judiciary. Earlier it were the lower echelons of the administration who had earned notoriety for demanding and accepting bribes in the form of "speed money", "Chai-panni money" "file recovery fee" "mulakat fee" and a host of other similar excuses. Now it is all over. No one seems to have any shame. No one appears to be immune from this virus. Scratch any one for any work. He will come out with a bribe structure from top to bottom. Try arguing with him and he will come out with a stock answer, "To phir ghar jao, yahan kya karne aye ho?" The few honourable exceptions to the rule are feeling lost and isolated. The armed forces and the judiciary were the last hope of the common man. Now corruption scandals relating to them are coming into the open shattering many myths. The few good men left must not give up. The society is banking on them for deliverance from the cancer of corruption.
