Forests facing danger: Create awareness among local people

A big problem faces the wildlife in State jungles- that of scarcity of water. It is said more than a dozen deer died in lack of water in the jungles of Chhindwara. Likewise wild animals from other jungles of Madhya Pradesh are moving away in search of water and losing their lives. Whereas the forest department is spending Rs two lakh each on preserving water in pits in the jungles. This is not enough and a permanent solution is needed to meet the water problem in jungles. At the same time it would be better to develop relief centres in the jungles itself. Lack of water would naturally affect tourism in the State. Eco tourists would also face difficulties. The non-availability of potable water for the common people and the tourists is a cause of concern. At the same time felling of trees continues in the jungles. There has not been much drop in the number of people indulging in illegal felling of trees and poaching of endangered species of wildlife. Last days fire had caused a lot of damage to the Betul jungles. Prior to this fire had caused damage to other jungles in the State. Forests are very essential for survival of the human beings. Global warming is one of the reasons of the present condition of forests. The Forest Department officials blame the shepherds and others gathering fruits for fire in the forests. But they do not suggest remedies to overcome the problem. The people living inside the forests should also be made aware of the importance of the forests and wildlife.
