Terror strikes again: This time Pink City is target

A series of six blasts shook the pink city on Tuesday claiming lives of 75 people and injuries to more than 200 others. The blasts hit at Tripolia bazar, where devotees had turned up at a Hanuman temple, Johari bazar, Manas Chowk, Badi choupal and Choti choupal in the walled part of the city. The whole humanity has been taken aback with this deadly act of the cowards against innocent people. Despite of beefing up of security after a serial of blasts in the past in various parts of the country, it seems the terrorists are having an upper hand in carrying out their designs. This time the terrorists used bicycles to carry out explosions. Senior police officials are suspecting the involvement of Bangladesh- based Harkat-ul-Jehadi Islami in the serial blasts. According to an agency RDX was used in the blast however this has been contested. Central Security agencies on Wednesday claimed that Neogel-90, an explosive used for commercial purposes, was used in the serial blasts in Jaipur. Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta said that apart from vigilance and being on the alert the govt would do all in its power to get hold of the people responsible for the blasts. The blasts could also have been planned to disturb communal peace. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil assured all possible help from the Centre to the Rajasthan government in thhe wake of the terror strike. It may be noted that the Defence Minister AK Antony had admitted of increase in infiltration and apprehended strikes by the terrorists. The investigative agencies are suspecting a person named Shamim from Uttar Pradesh behind the blasts. It is learnt Shamim had taken training in Bangladesh. Moreso once again the Intelligence machinery has proved failure. Hence besides beefing up security at vulnerable points, the government should come out with foolproof plans to foil the mischievous designs of the anti-national forces from within and across the border.
