MLC cricket tourney gets underway

Bhopal, May 15: The first Makhanlal Chaturvedi 20-20 cricket competition got underway at Bab-e-Ali cricket stadium here on Thursday. Those present on the occasion included Madhya Pradesh Sports Council vice president Om Yadav, chairman of Minorities Commission Anwar Mohammad Khan, former MLA PC Sharma, political leader Arif Masood, secretary of Bhopal Division Cricket Association Dr Shafqat Mohammad Khan and others.

IAS Group carom tourney begins

The third IAS Group Carom Tournament, being organised by Krishna Mercantile Bank, was inaugurated on Thursday. Chief guest of the inaugural function was Allahabad Bank's assistant general manager US Tripathi while president of Madhya Pradesh Builders Association Dilip Suryavanshi presided. Over 40 teams of various banks from all over India are taking part in the competition. In the first round of women's category Suchita Domkundwar of NABARD defeated Anita Bhargava of VRV by 2-0, Alpana Jain of NABARD vanquished Priya Saraf of RBI 2-0 while in men's category Sudeep Asari of SBI, AK Raman of Allahabad Bank and Manoj Batham of State Bank of Indore won their first round matches.

BDCA's written test for umpire selection

The Bhopal District Cricket Association (BDCA) will hold a written test on 25th of this month at MVM College, Bhopal. Those who are interested may collect the forms from Jyoti Tyagi (Ankur Ground), Suresh Chenani (Old Campion), and Iqbal Yahya (Bab-e-Ali) by 20th May. The form along with bank draft of Rs 500 should be submitted on or before May 20.

The selection will be after written and practical examinations. The candidates should forward their forms through the district associations, a press release of the Bhopal Divisional Cricket Association informed.
