Interest of general poor will be safeguarded: CM

Bhopal, May 15: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the State Government have made suitable provisions in a number of schemes in order to safeguard the interests of poor people belonging to the general category. Even after this wherever it is necessary, more steps would be initiated for the welfare of this category, he added. Chouhan announced to constitute a committee to study the recommendations of the first report of the Commission on Welfare of General Category Poor People. After the committee submits its report, he assured to take a suitable decision on its recommendations.

The Chief Minister made this announcement on the occasion of submission of first report of the Commission on welfare of people belonging to general category here today. The Chairman of the Commission, Babulal Jain handed over the report to the Chief Minister. The Woman and Child Development Minister, Kusum Mehdele; Health Minister Ajay Vishnoi; Member of Parliament Satyanarayan Jatiya; former MLA Ramesh Sharma 'Guttu Bhaiya'; UDA (Ujjain Development Authority) Chairman, Mohan Yadav; Commission Secretary AN Tiwari and other people's representatives were present on the occasion.

Throwing light on the objectives of setting up of the Commission, the Chief Minister spelt out the State Government's plans to seek suggestions from a cross section of society from all over the state on the welfare of economically poor people belonging to general category. The Chief Minister further adds that the State Government would make its efforts broad based so as to ensure that the poor people belonging to general category could draw maximum benefits from the welfare programmes. At present, this category people are being benefited in a big way under a number of welfare schemes such as Deendayal Antyodaya Upchar Yojana, Mukhya Mantri Kanyadan Yojana and cycle distribution scheme to promote education among the girls.

Chouhan congratulated the Commission Chairman Babulal Jain for finalising the report in such a short duration.
