Tomar not to contest in Assly election

Bhopal, May 14: Madhya Pradesh BJP President Narendra Singh Tomar today announced that he would not contest in the state assembly elections slated to take place the end of this year.

Talking to reporters after two-day meeting of the state BJP executive body, Tomar said he had taken the decision so that he could spend more time on preparing for assembly elections.

Tomar said he had no pressure on him to from anywhere to not contest the election and the decision was entirely his own. Speaking about the state party executive meeting, he said suggestions were received from 149 party workers. Useful suggestions would be included in poll strategy. Suggestions related to government would be forwarded so that necessary action was taken.

On whether ministers and legislators would be provided party ticket, Tomar said a final decision would be taken by the party central committee in this regard. On senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu advising ministers to not collect donation for elections, he said collection of donation was done by the party organisation.
