Naidu charges Centre with discrimination

By Our Staff Reporter

Bhopal, May 13: Alleging the Central government's ''discrimination'' towards BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh, senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu today lashed out at the Congress-led UPA government for its ''failures'' on all spheres and declared to launch a campaign against the Centre.

''People are disillusioned with the UPA government, which has failed on all fronts. Congress had betrayed every section of the society'', said Naidu at the inaugural session of state BJP executive committee meet here. The Congress had made ''Aam Aadmi'' an election issue and came to power in 2004, but had betrayed the people, who were now facing inflation and skyrocketing prices of essential commodities, he said.

The Central government is resorting to divisive politics and is pursuing communal agenda as a part of its vote bank politics, he charged, adding provision of reservations on communal basis, head count in army and being soft on terrorism for fear of losing vote base are few examples in that direction.

''Dynasty, family rule and sycophancy are the only yardsticks in the Congress'', the BJP's election in charge of Madhya Pradesh said. Pointing out that the Congress and Left are having love-hate relationship, Naidu said after the Karnataka Assembly elections, friction will increase at the centre and the UPA will disintegrate further.

''After the Karnataka elections, the count down will start for the Congress, which has already lost 10 out of 12 states that went to polls since 2004 Lok Sabha elections. Karnataka is going to be the 11th state in its account of defeats'', the BJP leader said.

In his advise to party leaders, Naidu said ''Let the people in the government and party form a separate team and evolve a programme to visit all districts. Review promises and speed up its implementation. Do not air views on internal matters in public. If you have any suggestion, discuss it with the leaders and on the proper forum of the party.''

While suggesting to launch an all out attack on the UPA government's failures and discrimination towards the Madhya Pradesh government, Naidu said a campaign should be launched to highlight the achievements of BJP government.

''State government's development agenda on one hand and failures of the UPA government and discrimination towards the state on the other should be our thrust of the campaign'', he added.
