Kandahar plane hijack case: Raking up people's sentiments

Conflicting statements on important issues concerning the nation not only provoke the masses but also force them to think about the reality. Even though such statements may not be very powerful but ridiculous. Senior BJP leader and former Foreign Affairs Minister, Jaswant Singh's recent statement is being seen in this context. He has clarified that after the infamous Kandahar plane hijack he had gone to Kandahar taking the three terrorists to free the Indians. Some days back senior BJP leader LK Advani had said that he had no information about Jaswant Singh's visit to Kandahar. Jaswant Singh, reacting to Advani's statement said that either Advani had forgotten or he may not have been present in the meeting. The interesting thing is that Advani was the then Home Minister and it is impossible that he had no information about such an important matter. How is it possible that the country's Home Minister had no information about such an important decision or he has forgotten it? Whereas the Home Minister plays an important role in Cabinet meetings. Such statements create confusion and are not in the nation's interest. It is mentionable that in December 1999 flight IC-814, coming from Kathmandu to New Delhi was hijacked by terrorists of Jaish-e-Mohammed. Jaswant Singh had gone to Kandahar to free the people in the plane, taking three terrorists including Jaish-e-Mohammed head, Azhar Masood. The hijackers had freed the people when the three terrorists were released by the Government of India. It was a big and unforgettable incident. Now-a-days the politicians are busy in writing books and now Jaswant Singh is writing his second book on Qaed-e-Azam, Jinnah. Probably the book would be released in July. The leaders should give their clear opinions on serious matters so that no confusion is created and country's interests do not suffer.
