Bhopal Today Team

Bhopal, May 12: The handicrafts and handlooms exhibition and sale fair has been conducting at the Community Hall, New Market, TT Nagar, Bhopal since last several days. Today was the last day of the exhibition. Knowing this, a large number of people thronged the exhibition and the business was brisk.

The handlooms and handicrafts were brought from far flung areas of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. People were attracted towards the fresh and new items on exhibition. There were attractive items with old and new designs. Colourful and costly sarees of Kosa Silk and cotton handloom sarees along with bed sheets, towels etc were displayed. Moreover, the Bagh Printed sarees were the new attraction. This is liked by women of all over the country.

For the children, beautiful and attractive wooden toys were another attraction. Decorative items like doorbells made of brass and metals, keyhangers, small ornament boxes in the shape of fish and statues of different gods and goddesses of the tribals were other attraction in the fair. These items are known as 'Bastaria Art'. As these items are made of special metal, they have long life. After some years, these artistic pieces could be used as antique iems.

The Bhopal Today Team Reporter met some at the exhibition hall to know about their opinion about the fair.

Rajkumar Vishwakarma had learnt to make artifacts of metals from his father. I am interested in this business since I was a child. Now my children helps me as I taught them the art of making artistic items of metals. I have been going to such exhibitions and fairs since long. He liked the city and the people here very much.
