On the occasion of 150th anniversary of India's freedom struggle of 1857 a function titled 'Ek Sham Shaeedon Ke Nam' was organised at Bada Sarafa in Ujjain today. Warriors of this war of independence were remembered by performing Aarti of Bharat Mata. A play titled 'Roti aur Kamal ke Kahani Baba ki Zabani' was also staged to commemorate the warriors. The residents of Ujjain paid tributes to martyrs of freedom struggle of 1857 by lighting lamps at many places. At various programmes silence was observed for 150 seconds. At the function to perform Arti of Bharat Mata, M.P. Dr Satyanarayan Jatiya recited an emotion-packed poem which moved the audience very much. While paying tributes to martyrs, he wished for everlasting glory of Bharat Mata.
Aarti of Bhart Mata was indeed a novel programme staged on Saturday night at Bada Sarafa in Ujjain. The play ' Roti aur Kamal ke Kahani Baba ki Zabani' was presented by Baba Satyanarayan Morya of Bharat Bhakti Sansthan, Mumbai. M.P. Dr Satyanarayan Jatiya was the chief guest while Minster of State for School Education Shri Paras Jain presided over the function. Shri Chaman Jain was the special guest. Social worker Shri Nirmal Gupta and Sarvashri Jagdish Agrawal, Ashok Prajapat, Roop Pamnani, Mukesh Joshi and others were also present.

At the function held at Shaheed Park, people of all age groups took part. The women were donning red clothes as a sign of revolution of 1857.
Cultural programmes are being held in Ujjain till June 9 to mark 150th anniversary of revolution of 1857. During this period 'Ek Sham Shaheedon Ke Nam' would be organised at the district level by Baba Satyanarayan Morya of Bharat Bhakti Sansthan, Mumbai and street plays by drama troupes and Kranti Yatra would be organised at Panchayat level.
