Explosion in Hubli court, no casulty

Hubli, May 10: A bomb exploded on Saturday at a court here, which is trying seven terror suspects of the banned SIMI, damaging furniture but caused no casualties, police said.

They said a minor explosion took place in the judicial first class magistrate court which was closed as it was a holiday due to second Saturday.

The court is trying the cases of seven suspected terrorists, including Mohammed Asif and Riyasuddin Naser, nabbed by the corps of detectives.

"The explosion was a minor one. The cause is yet to be ascertained. Except for some doors, window panes and witness boxes which suffered damage, there were no casualties," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), B Prakash said.

Minutes after the explosion, police cordoned off the area and engaged explosive experts and sniffer dogs. Meanwhile, members of Hubli Bar Association staged a protest demanding an inquiry into the explosion.
