Agencies

Kolkata, May 10: Congress today gave a call for observing 'black day' all over West Bengal tomorrow, the day of first phase of panchayat poll, to register protest against 'attack on democracy' in Nandigram and barring intellectuals by the police from entering the troubled areas to oversee panchayat polls .

WBPCC President P R Dasmunshi has asked all PCC workers to wear black badges at all places of work and observe 'black day' statewide tomorrow, party spokesman Subrata Mukherjee told PTI.

Dasmunshi, he said, would garland statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at Malda and observe 'black day'. "PCC leaders will observe black day here," he said.
