Only
a few more months are left for the announcement of assembly
elections in the State and time for holding the parliamentary
elections is also near. In such a situation there is need
to take up the work of voter lists on a war footing. The photo
identity cards of the State citizens have been prepared but
there are glaring mistakes in them. Several names are not
available in the voter lists or they may have been left out.
There is also complaint about adding fake names. Now, elections
would be held on the basis of delimitation. In this way the
assembly seats scenario would be changing and the voter lists
may be disturbed. Keeping in view these facts there is need
to revise voters lists. The names have not been added in the
voter list or to be added, they must be listed. Similarly,
there are errors in Voter Identity Cards too. Names, father's/husband's
names are found changed and it should be corrected. According
to information, several terrorists have become successful
to make their Voter Identity cards in Jammu-Kashmir. So it
is necessary to keep an eye on issuing photo identity cards.
This work is performed by Election Commission and it becomes
its duty to make revision of voter list and add left out names.
This work should be started right now and completed soon so
that the coming elections are held without any hurdles.
