Bhopal, May 6:
All the league matches of the 59th MP State Junior Basketball Championship being played at local AGA Club, BHEL-Bhopal were completed today.
In boys section, the last year's winners, STC Bhopal, runners-up, Indore Corporation, BHEL, Bhopal district, Bhopal Academy and Mandsaur district including host Bhopal Corporation entered into pre quarter final whereas in girls section the winner Indore Corporation, runner up STC Jabalpur, Ujjain Corporation and DCC, Jabalpur entered into semi-finals. The players were introduced to international basketball players, Uday Yadav and Lalit Hurmade during matches.
In the boys group the last winner, STC Bhopal easily won the match against Mandsaur district in its second league match. STC in first quarter took lead with 17-11 and up to half time the players of STC took this lead to 35-18.
This team secured first position in pool A winning this match with 46-25.
Suraj and Sunny Raut of winning team added 10 points.
BHEL-Bhopal, in a nail biting match, defeated Geof Jabalpur with 37-31. BHEL team was leading with 22-21 up to half time. Both the teams lost several chances in securing points.
Younis and Rounak from BHEL team secured 12 and 11 points respectively. Whereas Mohit of Geof team's secured 12 points.
In the girls section the quarter final matches were played. Last winner Indore Corporation defeated Geof Jabalpur easily with 22-9. Whereas Junior India camper Sukhjeet Kour led the STC Jabalpur team and it defeated Guna team with 42-2.
