Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils fined for slow over-rate

Agencies

Mumbai, May 5: Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils have been fined by the Indian Premier League for maintaining slow over-rates during their clash at the D Y Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Sunday night.

The home team's elation of stunning their league-topping rivals by 29 runs in a low-scoring match was dampened a bit when they copped a fine of US dollars 1000 levied by match referee Javagal Srinath for bowling two overs short in the stipulated period.

The Delhi outfit, led by Virender Sehwag, was also fined USD 500 for bowling one over short, an IPL media release said.

The IPL is being played as per the International Cricket Council Playing Conditions and Rules and any team bowling a slow over rate would be fined US dollar 500 per over, which would be decided by the match referee, the release added.
