Madhya Pradesh Governor Dr. Balaram Jakhar has congratulated the scientists for achieving the world record of launching of 10 satellites at the same time on April 28. He termed it as the big achievement of our country.
The Governor welcomed the Science Express at the Habibganj Railway Station by cutting of a ribbon. The train contains more than 300 visuals, over 150 video clippings and multimedia exhibition. After going through the exhibition Dr. Jakhar said that globalisation of science is good to all. He termed the Science Express as a great source of modern knowledge and expected it to become a milestone in the field of science and technology.
Reacting sharply on the statement of American President George W Bush that India was responsible for the price rise in food grains, the Governor said that 'nobody should be worried over the achievements and progress of our country'. Regarding price rise, he said that food production in our country was as expected and the efforts to control the inflation would definitely bring results soon.
Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya vice chancellor Professor P B Ssharma presided over the function to welcome the Science Express. On this occasion Science Express Project Manager and Maxplanex Society (Germany) member Andryan Clark, Divisional Railway ManagerAshok Agrawal, scientists, students and several other dignitaries were present.
The Science Express would remain in Bhopal till May 8. Thousands of students went inside the train to see the exhibition. On this occasion, the Science Centre (Gwalior) distributed prizes and certificates for pre-science activities. Mrs. Sandhya and Archana gave away the prizes and certificates. The Science Centre, Gwalior is coordinating the moments of the Science Train in the state.
Exhibition inside the Science Express relate to current inventions, expected inventions etc. The Science Express' is run by the Science and Technology Department of the Central Government and co-sponsor is Germany's Max Plack Society under the Science Tunnel Programme.
12 compartments of the train has science models, Audio-Video and do yourself sections. Another compartment contains Kids Lab by the BASF Company. At one part of the compartment models have been exhibited on the progress of science and technology in the country.
