Workshop held for mentally retarded children

Bhopal, May 2: The Sopan Handicapped Rehabilitation and Research Institute, Bhopal has organised a day-long workshop for the parents of mentally retarded children. The workshop explained the parents how to take care of the handicapped children. Assistant Director, Panchayats and Social Justice, N K Dube was the chief guest on the occasion.

Addressing the parents and their children, Dube said that this was a sensitive issue. He advised the parents to give them suitable food and engage them busy in plays and games. This would help to increase concentration among them, he said.

Sopan School director Mrs. Neeta Shrivastava advised the parents that they should treat the children as normal and try to put them in the mainstream cautiously. She explained the institution's activities.

Prizes were given to the children for their three-day competition in items like drawing, chair race, throwing ball in the bucket.
