Systematic torture |
| I appreciate Leela Ramaswamy's truly timely and excellent article (DH, April 28), on the torture meted out to the elephants in Kerala. These poor elephants, like elephants in Rajasthan, Bihar and other states, are tortured systematically and unconscionably by the mahouts.
This is a blot upon the conscience of this nation. The authorities in each state must put a stop to this ongoing torture and daily, hourly maltreatment of the defenceless giants.
