Bhopal, May 1:
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday ended his 24-hour protest fast against the alleged step-motherly treatment by the Centre towards the state.
Chouhan, who went fasting yesterday along with his ministers alleging inadequate supply of coal for power plants, less supply of foodgrains, denial of drought relief and special package among other issues, warned of further agitation.
"If our demands are not addressed, we will start a signature campaign from May 7. Even after that our issues will not be taken care-off then we will take out a `nyay yatra' and after this we will fight against the Centre by launching `nyay yuddh' (fight for justice)," Chouhan said addressing large number of party workers on the occasion.
The 24-hour-long fast came to an end after former Chief Minister Sunderlal Patwa offered Chauhan a glass of juice.
Chouhan termed the Centre's alleged discriminatory policies towards BJP ruled state "as a conspiracy to create artificial crisis in the state for gaining political mileage."
"Severe drought situation was prevailing in several parts of the state, specially in Bundelkhand region and the state government is demanding drought relief for tackling it," he said.
"I have met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar and Home Minister Shivraj Patil number of times to apprise them of the situation in the state but no avail," Chouhan said adding this forced him and other ministerial colleagues to observe 24-hour fast to highlight the plight of the people.
