Bhopal, Apr 30: A grand farewell function was organised at St Joseph's Convent Senior Secondary School, Idgah Hills on Wednesday and Sister Jane and Ms Aruna Shukla, who was retiring after 20 years of dedicated service.

Ms Dolly Verma, Ms Renuka Maini also left due to personal reasons. The backdrop for the function was very apt. It showed a path lit by lanterns leading to new dawn, a new beginning. The teachers were entering a new phase of life, leaving behind the light of a million lanterns, which they had lit which in turn would touch and enlighten the hearts of all.

A warm welcome was given to the outgoing staff members, especially Sister Francine, who had spent 18 years in the KG Department as Headmistress. Her gentle and motherly touch would be missed by one and all. Ms Aruna Shukla offered 20 incense sticks representing 20 years of empowerment in the field of Hindi enriching the linguistic skills of the primary children, Sister Jane offered one candle reminiscing numerous persons whom she has taught in life.

The other teachers offered flowers each resembling their unique talents of love and encouragement in the classroom, 18 insence sticks were offered by Sister Francine to God (a symbolic offering) of her 18 years of committed service. Floral tributes and gifts were given to them. There was a prayer dance and prayer service and variety programme.

A farewell song was sung by the students. There was a KG item (Bum Bum Bole) where the youngest performers entertained the audience. A musical camera view of our sisters and teachers was depicted by the primary "Sunera Pal". The KG teachers rendered a farewell song. The western dance "lighter moments" lightened the hearts and filled all with feelings of warmth and laughter.

The Finale Journey ahead, a ballet depicted that bidding farewell is not the end of life. It should be taken as he beginning of a new era. The Principal, Sister Francis Joseph wished good luck and God's blessing to outgoing teachers and sisters. The function was the culmination of cherished moments. It ended on a poignant note.
