This refers to the report "UNPA, Left leaders court
arrest over inflation". The trouble is that there is a
surfeit of pretenders and acute shortage of sincere
leaders both in the government and in the opposition.
Neither has the welfare of the masses on their mind.
Why resort to gimmicks like issuing threats to the
governments, staging strikes and chakkajams, burning
effigies and calling names on the price rise issue?
Instead, why not lead the raids on the go downs where
the traders have hoarded the essential commodities?
And, why not keep some men on the PDS shops to ensure
that unscrupulous traders do not divert the government
supplies to the blackmarket? Positive action will go a
long way in bringing the prices down. The opposition
can claim the credit for this. This is a better way of
exposing government's weaknesses and helping the poor
people. Instead, the opposition has taken the easy way
out. No one moves beyond the dharnas and the vacuous
slogan shouting. Who doesn't know that the between
themselves the Netas both in the government and in the
opposition, the babus, the hoarders, the adultraters,
the blackmarketeers, and the PDS shop owners are
jointly responsible for the present inflationary
spiral? Some have directly contributed to it and some
indirectly. They refuse to listen and continue to
confuse the people. Unite to put them on the mat.
