In compliance to the first step of the forward planning made to achieve targets within scheduled time period, Narmada Valley Development Authority (NVDA) has all set to deploy about 2 dozen independent quality monitors in the field to boost up the ongoing work of various projects.
Elaborating the object and roll of monitors, Addl Chief Secretary and Vice Chairman of NVDA, Pradeep Bhargava informed that we have introduced forward planning for each ongoing and proposed projects in the valley. The first step of the planning is aimed at acquiring required land through private persons and make available to the construction agencies so that they can start the work with full pace.
The acquisition of land goes through various steps following the law of land acquisition. At this point of time, large chunk of land has to be acquired for construction of main and distributary canals under Bargi Diversion, Indira Sagar and Omkareshwar Project. To meet out this requirement, services of senior Retd Revenue officers have been taken as monitors.
These monitors would be deployed in the project areas to help, guide and expedite the process of land acquisition. Bhargava informed that second step of forward planning is aimed at the quality construction within scheduled time period. To ensure this, services of technically qualified Retd. Officers have been hired as monitors. These monitors shall be deployed to monitor the quality and other aspects of the construction. They will be sent to monitor the quality on random basis. All monitors shall submit their report directly to the NVDA head quarters. The engineering and rehabilitation sell at the head quarter would analyse the report of monitors and would ensure the action on the identified points till points raised by the monitors are fulfilled.
