Maintain quality of Tendu Patta

By Our Staff Reporter

Bhopal, Apr 27: The state government on Sunday issued instructions to forest officers to maintain good quality in Tendu Patta collection. In the instructions issued by Principal Secretary Forests Prashant Mehta, the forest officials have been directed to undertake intensive inspection of Tendu Patta collection centres.

According to the instructions the works to be inspected during Tendu Patta collection include proper pruning and timely payment to labourers. The officials have to watch whether payment is being made at every collection centre as per rates fixed for various districts and whether the collected Tendu Patta is good enough for rolling bidis. Besides, all necessary efforts are being undertaken for collection of Tendu leaves as per targets.

Similarly, treatment of Tendu leaves and stuffing the same in gunny bags is being done properly. Names of the collection centre, committee, number of packets and year of collection are being inscribed correctly on the stuffed gunny bags and the gunny bags are being properly dried at the collection centres.

The other works to be inspected include transportation of Tendu Patta bags to godown after drying up, sample test of five per cent bags on reaching the godown and proper maintenance of godown register. They have also been instructed to inspect the work of collection of Mahua Gulli and Achar Guthli as well as plantation of medicinal plants.

The officials have also been asked to send the report about these inspections to Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Rajya Laghu Vanopaj Sangh so that corrective measures could be taken.
